Will our Sacral desires cause us to spend too much money?

A question I've received many times (and a question I've pondered many times) is:

How do we trust our Strategy and Authority, a.k.a. "wait to respond" and either Sacral or Emotional Authority, when spending money?

After all, couldn't we have a sacral response to something wildly inappropriate and out of our realm of possibility at the moment, leaving ourselves financially destitute?

Thankfully, if we're honoring our inner guidance, this won't happen!

Here's why, and here are some ideas on how to approach our responses to things we want to buy without making decisions that feel wrong for us in the long run.

  1. The Sacral thrives on being exposed to the present truth of a situation.

It is essential to expose ourselves to all the relevant information. As beings of response, we have to come in contact with something to know whether it's something we want to move toward or away from.

It helps to be present with the facts and facets so that we can respond to the entirety of what we are deciding.

When making purchasing decisions, if we aren't aware of our bank balance, upcoming costs, or how much savings we have, our Sacral is responding without the full picture.

Remember, the Sacral is not an awareness center; it's a motor. Either something is exciting or not! Our excitement and pleasure aren't designed to be logical!
However, desire is not the only thing that leads to our purchasing decisions.

Sometimes we see something that looks amazing and have a yes response to it but, upon closer inspection, we see the shoddy quality, and it turns into a "no."

….which leads me to…

2. There are two questions being asked when we buy something

The Sacral operates from a place of yes and no, expansion and contraction, energy and lethargy. So, we have to make sure we are asking the right questions.

The two questions we are asking when buying something are:

  • Do I want to buy this?

  • and

  • Do I want to buy this right now?

If we forget this second question, our inner guidance can feel chaotic! What if my Sacral just really really desires something that I just don't have the money for right now? Does that mean I have to go buy it immediately?

The answer is: no. With the awareness of the present state of your finances (which your Sacral is also responding to), likely your inner guidance will say, "Yes, I want to buy this. No, I don't want to buy it right now."

Or, if you have Emotional Authority, you'll give yourself some time to come to your decision after your emotions have neutralized.

3. Not every response of something we can buy means that we need to buy. But if we are meant to, we can trust our inner guidance.

I feel that if we have a strong response to something that is for sale, it can be because we can buy it right now, we will eventually be able to buy it because it represents something exciting to us, or it is inspiring us to create the essence of that thing in some way in our lives.

If we are supposed to buy it, we will know. It will feel energizing to make the purchase, and there will be an overall flow to the process.

This could also mean that we calmly wait for that thing to make its way into our reality again, so we can be sure we are still having a consistent yes response (Sacral Authority). It can mean waiting until we feel more sure than not after giving ourselves time to process (Emotional Authority).

Are you able to tap into your Strategy and Authority when making purchasing decisions? Any triumphs? Challenges? I'd love to hear below!

Rachel
